A little preparation.
A clearer decision.
Outage Guide helps households turn a short list of essentials into a practical backup-power estimate.
Start with the problem
Shopping for a battery is easier after you know what it needs to power. We built the planner around device use, outage duration, and the tradeoffs that change capacity. You can use it without creating an account.
Show the assumptions
Our example wattages are starting estimates. The planner exposes active hours, efficiency, idle draw, and planning margin so you can replace assumptions with measurements. Worked examples explain the arithmetic. Sources are linked where a guide draws on outside guidance.
Be clear about shopping links
We do not claim to have tested products shown in Amazon search results. Those links help you find the model or category after identifying your requirements. Product specifications and availability must be checked with the seller and manufacturer. Read our affiliate disclosure.
Use the right kind of expertise
A general calculator cannot certify a medical backup system, a permanent installation, or a specific appliance/battery combination. Follow manufacturer instructions and involve a qualified professional for work that requires one. The planner is a place to start a decision and prepare better questions.
